The Institute had been established as early as 1930
as one of
the in-service training units of the Ministry
of Health to
undertake the responsibility of training
diagnostic radiographers.
In 1970 the Institute was
developed through a joint- venture
between the World
Health Organization and the Ministry of
Health, so as to keep abreast with new developments in
the science and technology of radiodiagnosis and radiotherapy,
311d to accept students from EMRO and the Middle East
Countries.
In 1978 the Institute was considered as one of the
specialized Higher Educational Institutions that governed by
the National Council for Higher Education. In 1992 the
Institute has been affiliated to the Sudan University of
Science and Technology.
The Institute is characterized by its
unique specialization in the field of radiodiagnostic sciences
and radiotherapeutic sciences in Africa, Asia and some
European countries. The Institute is become one of Sudan
University of Science and Technology .
Location: The buildings
of the college are located at the junction of the Baladia and
the Anny Str.
The buildings include:
- teaching- rooms,
- a physics
and instrumentation laboratory, and
- a computer unit.
Also
there is an X -ray and an Ultrasound Department mainly built
to facilitate students' clinical practice at Id to provide
service in radiographic and ultrasound examinations for
patients at low prices. |
